What is MIAM's?

What is MIAM’s? : Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting

Since April 2011, the Government have required that before litigation in family matters commences that potential litigants should attend Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting also known as a MIAM’s

One of the purposes of the MIAM is to provide information about mediation, other forms of dispute resolution and possible costs: in order to allow you to decide the best way to resolve your family difficulty. You attend the MAIM on your own, without the other party, it is your opportunity to discuss and find out if Mediation can be of benefit to you.

After completion of the session a FM1 form can be signed, which will allow you to commence court proceedings if you feel this is the only option available to you.

You do not need to attend a MIAM’s if you attend Mediation in the previous 4 months, the mediators can sign the FM1 form.

You do not need to attend a MIAM’s, if you and your ex partner have decied that you wish to mediate then you can book a mediation session.

The Cost of a MIAM is £95, please see special offer page to see if any offers are available.
